Woodlands County is one of the few counties in the province that owns and maintains a full air-service airport. The Whitecourt Airport is the ninth busiest in the province of Alberta. The primary users of the County airport include forestry, aviation photography and oilfield companies . Up to 32,000 aircrafts use the site each year, including the largest helicopter in the world, the Mi-26, and also the smallest helicopter, the Robinson 22. Our airport provides a large base for water-bombers as well, which are critical for forest fire suppression. The Whitecourt Airport also hosted the 2008 "Wings Over Whitecourt" air show, which featured the Canadian Forces' Snowbirds.
